Not reading live journal updates

Engineer is not live updating material pickups and trades. It is reading my journal, because I can manually reload all data, and material counts are updated when I do this. Engineer will also update material counts upon exiting Elite Dangerous to main menu or desktop, or closing and restarting Engineer. However, it used to do it automatically, as I scooped mats or made trades. Not sure if this is a result of updates to Elite or something else. I have recently changed my journal location due to getting a new SSD to install and save data to, but I wasn't having this problem immediately after moving all of my Elite Dangerous stuff to the new drive. This seems to be a new development, and as far as I can tell, the only thing that's changed has been updates to ED itself.

I just did some testing and returned my save games folder to its default C;/ drive path, and ED Engineer was able to update my material count in real time after I did a trade. Then I moved my save folder back to my SSD, E:/ drive path, and ED Engineer did not update live after doing a trade. However, manual reload of data provided an accurate material count. I attempted a full reinstall and realised that upon installing, I don't get to choose where this program is installed to. This is disappointing, but not sure if related. What I'm sure is related is that during the setup process, the program informs me that it can't find my log files, and asks me to show it where they are, but it does so while bringing up the folder that they are in.
