The latest version of the extension (v11.10.4.0) can now be installed offline.

There are no quick improvements I'm aware of. I think it needs a complete rewrite to work out-of-process. I'm currently working out how bet to do this. No time line...

The latest version of the extension (11.10.4.0) doesn't do any formatting as described in the OP. If you're still seeing similar behaviour, check your Visual Studio settings.

Is there a workaround or idea when this might make it onto the roadmap/backlog?

I'm unable to reproduce this consistently. Sometimes it happens and moving windows, or resizing Visual Studio normally resolves the issue. We'll continue to monitor this and try to identify the...
