Plugin deprecation

Open mrjackphil opened this issue 4 years ago • 10 comments

Latest version of Obsidian will have it's own implementation of the "backlinks in document" functionality.

So there will be no purpose of this plugin.

Once the internal functionality will be mature enough and officially published this plugin will be removed from the Obsidian plugin store.

I'm struggling to find any release notes on this feature. Would you be able to link to where obsidian have said they're planning on implementing this?

@danwlsn They already delivered this functionality to the Insider's Build. For now, it only works with preview mode.

@mrjackphil I still can't find any option regarding this in Obsidian. Is it still part of insider build only?

Just checked insider build, still not finding this option. Would love some help with it

@tonyxiao When in preview mode you can toggle Toggle backlinks in document which will show/hide backlinks in preview mode.

Was wanting to have backlinks in document in editor mode too and came across this thread.

Do you know if it's possible to hook into Obsidian to be able to enable backlinks in document in edit mode?

@tonyxiao If you asking about the plugin - it already adds the backlinks section to both - edit and preview mode.

If you asking about extending the core Obsidian functionality - I'm not sure. I didn't do the research for this one.

I see. Is there a way to still use this plugin to be able to have backlink in documents in edit mode? Do you know if there are functional differences between this plugin vs the official one that only works in preview mode?

@tonyxiao You can still install the plugin manually by downloading the zip file from the release section and do the instructions from the README or this post.

Currently, the main difference what the plugin shows backlinks in edit mode. But the behavior might be not so consistent and predictable as in the core plugin. There are still issues that are opened.
