How should I cite this library?

Open krofik opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

How should I cite this library in a scientific publication? Is there any preferred way to do so, or may the author prefer to reference some conference talk? Having an bibtex entry in README.md would be nice.

Hi, thanks for your interest in the library. I must admit that I do not know much about BibTeX entries but I always thought they do not apply to the software. In case I am wrong please let me know what is the correct way to do it.

Anyway, the library is referred to by the name mp-units as stated in its documentation here: https://mpusz.github.io/units/index.html. I am the primary library author but there are also a lot of great contributors here so I think it wouldn't be fair to state only my name in BibTeX or another kind of entry.

GitHub seems to support citation files for repositories. This makes citation information in BibTeX and other formats.

See also this and this.

@krofik, I added the CITATION.cff file today and now you can find the information on the main project's page:

It wasn't that easy for me to create such a file but I hope we ended up with a fair solution.

Please let me know in case we can somehow improve here.

@krofik, does this address your concerns so we can close this issue?

I am closing this as it seems to be resolved.
