Orbview RPCs

Open barnabygordon opened this issue 5 years ago • 1 comments

I'm following your notebook tutorial and I'm interested in understanding how the Orbview RPCs were generated.

My understanding is that the RPCs describe the transformation between (col, row) to (lon, lat, elevation) which is useful in the ortho process for modelling the parallax effect based on the viewing geometry and elevation. However, the sample Orbview image used in the tutorial looks as though it's already been projected and aligns (roughly) well with the basemap, in which case how can the RPCs be useful

Do you know how the RPC information may originally have been generated or whether the image has already undergone some transformation?

Heya @barnabygordon I'm so sorry I didn't see this issue open back in January. I actually do not remember if the image had already ben warped, but I am pretty certain it wasn't warped against a DEM.
