iOS safari hotspot unstable clicks

Open user080975 opened this issue 5 years ago • 9 comments

On iOS 12.4 in Safari, when clicking on any hotspot, the results are unstable. Sometimes the hotspot will register the touch click and display the related tooltip but other times will quickly display and then hide the tooltip or not register the clicks. This also happens in the demo panoramas.

I have no way of testing this, as I do not have any devices capable of running recent versions of iOS. Touch interactions are not something that can be reliably debugged using a remote emulator.

Can you please take a look at this screen recording of the issue? Is there any solution to this? Right now on Safari in iOS the hotspots are quite unstable for users.

Your link returns a 404 error.

I didn't say I didn't believe you, I just said I can't test it, and this isn't the type of thing I can really debug without being able to first reproduce it.

Sorry, here is a working link https://www.dropbox.com/s/hfr7hvym8tcfqfd/screen.MP4?dl=0

The video shows what you described. Unfortunately, this doesn't give me any indication as to what isn't working.

I notice after more testing that the issue appears when swiping in any direction and clicking any hotspot, when the panorama isn’t fully stopped. Can you test and see if you can reproduce this issue on a mobile device?

I can't reproduce the issue on an Android device, either with Chrome or Firefox, so it seems to be limited to iOS.

Would you know someone with an iOS device that maybe you can use or maybe inside a store to test the issue? It’s really quite problematic the touch issue and I can send you a small payment for your time and effort for this project :)

I am having this same issue reported by users on my site and I also cannot test on an iOS device to fully understand what's causing it. The gist of it is the same: the tooltips only appear as long as you're holding your finger on the screen. It behaves like a mouse hover instead of a touch to toggle. I'll try to find more information but I can only test using Browserstack for now...
