Find a home and a response for the "profit" challenge to open data

Open zee-moz opened this issue 8 years ago • 2 comments

In a comment on Primer 1, Dhafer Laouini said: What if a private company uses publicly shared data, ameliorates them then makes profit out of it ?! needs to be taken into account !

where can we put this content? what is a good response?

I guess this sort of thing could be included in the discussion about the different licenses that open-data can be stored with which determines what would happen in this case?

Also relevant to who ultimately "owns" the data: i.e. is it the researcher, PI, university, funding body or another private body.

I like the idea re: associating with the different licenses! I'll look at what we've written about that.

Good point about IP too
