Extra notes added when formatting text

When using "#" and other things to format text, it seems additional notes get added.

[Affected versions]:

4.2.0

[Steps to reproduce]:

In an new note, type some stuff including "#" to make headlines. It might be necessary to do this on the first line..

[Expected result]:

Formatting applies to that note

[Actual result]:

New notes get created with "junk":
