Default containers keep re-appearing
Before submitting a bug report
- [x] I updated to the latest version of Multi-Account Container and tested if I can reproduce the issue
- [x] I searched for existing reports to see if it hasn't already been reported
Step to reproduce
Since about a month or so, the default container names (Personal, Banking, etc) keep appearing in my container list. When I remove them they stay away for the session, but they will re-appear later on.
I think it has to do with the sync functionality and that somehow, it keeps thinking that the client is older and then re-pushes those containers to the client. Note that I have about 6 custom containers which are not affected (which would mesh with my theory).
Is there a new regression with regards to multi-account-containers?

I have had this happen a fair number of times as well. I have a number of different FF profiles I use, today I noticed it had happened on one of them again, so decided to report.
Unlike OP however, I delete them once, and they stay gone for a good while, not coming back each session.
(Side note, I almost reported in FF bugzilla, until I saw another Multi-Account Container bug referred over to here... probably should make it easier to realize this is the place for these bugs)
Specifically I saw that "shopping" and "banking" containers reappeared. That is my "learning" profile, and when I set up MAC in that profile, I removed all default containers and made my own. Oddly(?) not all the default containers appeared, seems to have been just those two.
This reappearance is very hard to pin down, as with no sites assigned to those default containers, I won't notice until/unless I specifically open the container list. So not sure if happens when a version update of the browser and or the extension occurs or what. And extension updates are nearly silent, which also makes it hard.
I do see that my "main" FF profile, which uses the same browser version (the Dev Edition channel, currently 136.0b7 (64-bit), on Windows 10), does not have any of the default containers re-added. Though it definitely has happened there at times, and possibly I saw it there earlier, deleted them, and only now noticed them in the "learning" profile. The extension version is currently 8.2.0.
The other possibility is that it is much more random when they come back, not linked to version updates, but that seems unlikely.
I have also seen this on my "secure" profile, which I use only with the ESR version of Firefox, so it isn't just the Dev Edition.
Also at least once, I saw my personal containers all wiped out and only the default ones present, which is much worse of course. That was quite a while ago though, and I have seen the defaults simple re-added a number of times since then.
Will try and remember to update here if/when it happens again.
Same here: from time to time (every few weeks), the container list is reset and I get presented the default container list. (Some other settings not related to "multi-account-containers" get occasionally reset too, like "ask before closing multiple tabs".)
As the others, I also have the gut feeling that this is somehow related with Profile Sync and maybe with schema/version differences. The profile in question is regularly synced across several instances of Firefox (on Windows and Linux), but also with one instance of Waterfox.
Same problem for me too. This has been really annoying. For me I am using Zen browser. I thought it to be a zen only problem first. Now I believe it isnt. Its linked with sync of firefox. I have same on windows (currently in linux) so I think when I use on the other OS the sync activates and syncs everything to default contianers list. Has anyone been able to find any solution for this?
