Search box input gets cleared on loading on slow page load

I have a slow internet connection, really slow, about 1 Mbps is my normal connection speed. (It can burst up to about 3 Mbps) and when I access AMO in Firefox, the page loads, I focus the search box, and start typing. I can usually type out most of the name of the extension I'm looking for, but then something happens where the page finishes loading which results in the search box being cleared so I have to retype my query. This may not hit most of you all who are on fast connections, but I'll bet you could see by throttling the network connection in the network panel of the dev tools.
