Maybe you could publish that app on F-Droid? At least, if you end that private beta you currently have.

Or, if that is not going to happen, you could setup an F-Droid repo with Repomaker (e.g.). Then the apks you provide can auto-update via F-Droid and users would still need to manually add the repository. (So this sill does not face end users in the main F-Droid "store".)
