[Linux] VPN client takes a long time to recover from the internet connection being down

Steps to reproduce:

• Turn the Wi-Fi off
• Turn it back on
• Attempt to turn the VPN on

Expected result

As soon as the Wi-Fi connection is back on, the VPN can be turned on

Actual result

The VPN client keeps behaving as if the internet is down for many minutes (around 5min) until it is able to turn the VPN on.
