[foxfooding] Use custom DNS does not accept IPv6 address
➤ Valentina Virlics commented:
Peter deHaan Thank you for logging this! Eng team decided not to support IPV6 format for custom DNS. You can see more info here: https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/mozilla-vpn-client/issues/1633 ( https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/mozilla-vpn-client/issues/1633|smart-link )

Andrea Marchesini mind clarifying here why we decided to not support IPv6?
➤ Andrea Marchesini commented:
There are several issues with IPv6:
- the device must support IPv6
- The ISP must support IPv6
- If the connectivity changes and the new connection does not have ipv6 support, the DNS becomes inaccessible.
Because of this, we have decided to disable the ipv6 DNS feature.
It seems that we want to improve the advanced DNS support so, maybe we can reintroduce ipv6 DNS.
➤ Santiago Andrigo commented:
After talking to Baku, my impression is that this is a low priority request. My current impression (though I’m having a hard time finding data) is that IPv6 only DNS servers are rare and I suspect that the majority of IPv6 supporting DNS servers also support IPv4. If anybody has data to disprove this, we can revise this priority.
