Accessing Settings from empty page takes 3 taps, should open on first tap
STR:
- Start cleared Focus: URL bar has focus, logo in the middle, keyboard at bottom, Settings icon above 'p' key.
- Tap Settings icon. (Keyboard disappears.)
- Tap Settings icon again. (Menu pops up, with only one item being "Settings".
- Tap "Settings". (Finally the Settings page opens!)
Expected: Settings page is visible after step 2, i.e., the first time I tapped the icon.
Update: Now the icon looks like the "hamburger" menu (three horizontal lines.) I'm pretty sure it was a gear icon before!? (With a little red dot -- maybe I did something that cleared that, and made the icon reverse to hamburger?)
But my original issues still stand (3 taps), though I'm a bit more understanding that the hamburger icon now shows a menu, but it's still unfortunate that we show a menu with only one possible action.
Update: Looks like things have changed! In version 9000 (7003), there's no settings/menu icon anymore on the empty entry page! But anyway it still takes 3 taps: 1. Back arrow or center of screen, 2. hamburger icon (menu with only one item), 3. Settings.
Just a note that we've been thinking about this issue. We're not making any changes yet.
The behavior may have changed again since the issue was raised but it now takes 2 taps: hamburger menu (1) and settings (2) This feels optimal given settings is secondary compared to search or reaching a shortcut. I'll close this issue since it seems now resolved but feel free to reopen if you feel differently.
