A/B Test Alternate Pinned Tile Icon/Name

Why/User Benefit/User Problem

The ability to pin / bookmark tiles is a great feature for our users so that they can quickly return to their favourite sites, but they aren't aware of it.

Acceptance Criteria (how do I know when I’m done?)

• A/B test set up to compare existing pinned tile design with new one
  • Data ticket to support experiment
  • B group sees new design (details below)
  • A/B test is EN users only, as the new strings have not been localized
• Required probes to measure success of experiment are in place (should already be the case, but need to confirm)

Design

1. Change icon from 📌 to ⭐️

• bookmark filled

2. Change terminology from “pin” to “bookmark”

• Section title: “Pinned Sites” → “Top Sites”
• Button label: “Pin to homescreen” → “Bookmark this page to Top Sites”
• Toast: “Pinned to Firefox TV homescreen” → “Bookmark saved to Top Sites”
• Button label: “Unpin from homescreen” → “Remove bookmark from Top Sites”
• Toast: “Removed from Firefox TV homescreen” → “Bookmark removed from Top Sites”
• Modal dialogue: “Remove [sitename] from Pinned sites?” → “Remove [sitename] from Top Sites?”

Success Criteria

• Increased number of users who have a pinned tile (tracked as "custom tiles")
• Increased number of average pinned tiles
• Increased number of clicks on pin

Consider #2920 when looking at renaming. The term "bookmark" may be more clear when read out aswell
