Close new tab with back button/swipe
User Problem
Closing new tabs with a back swipe is much more convenient than opening the tab screen, hunting for the small X and returning to the previous page. Makes using web-based aggregator sites, such as Reddit or RSS readers much more pleasant, and also reflects what Safari for iOS already does.
Ideas for Solution
When a link targeting _blank opens a new tab, that new tab can be closed by swiping back or pressing the back button, to return to the previous page.
See Safari for iOS implementation. See also #4718 which was closed unceremoniously without any explanation whatsoever.

I'd like to volunteer for solving this issue now.
With iOS, now letting users choose the Browser to be Firefox. It is high time for this issue to be finally solved as this Small but significant user expected Feature is really Letting Firefox Bleed Users from iOS.
Really unfortunate that this still hasn’t been changed. It’s the only thing keeping me from switching to Firefox. I occasionally reinstall it and then remove it when it’s still the same.
I'm trying alternative browsers as well, and it's surprising how much I miss this seemingly little behavior.
