Pocket Integration
Why/User Benefit/User Problem
Pocket is built into desktop but absent in mobile, while ‘Reader’ is available in iOS but not on desktop.
Users need to install secondary pocket app to create full loop experience otherwise messaging is confusing to users, why use reader on iOS if doesn’t sync to desktop and same for pocket on desktop.
Integrating pocket into Firefox just like the desktop experience would eliminate this issue.

Thank you for raising this idea. We have Pocket as a separate app on mobile so that our users aren't forced to use Firefox to get Pocket and vice versa. Would you be willing to share the task you're trying to do, so I can understand if there are particular features of Pocket that we could support in the browser
Just that it takes far longer to pocket things on mobile vs desktop app which is always a single click away.
The mobile process is 3X longer:
- Click 3 dots menu
- Select ‘Share Page With’
- Choose Pocket from available items (which may be horizontally off screen for users)
This is just not parity with the desktop experience.
Is it not possible to have a Pocket icon/badge just like in desktop, but you can also use the separate app? I think both of these options could exist simultaneously.
Thanks for the extra details, that provides a lot more clarity. It is a number of steps right now to save to Pocket and something we could improve
I will label this issue Needs Discovery
. Whoever chooses to tackle it, will need to talk to the Pocket team and do more research.
(We can also do something quick here. For instance, if the Pocket app is installed or the user is signed into Pocket, then show one special/additional menu item in “Page Actions” called “Save Page to Pocket”. If Pocket isn’t signed in or is unavailable, then don’t show this menu item).
Just want to update that the DuckDuckGo mobile browser has a share icon in the main interface that allows quick share to Pocket (2 clicks) vs the 3 clicks in Firefox.
I know there isn't space in the mobile Firefox UI for a share icon, but if possible, the 3 dots menu should include a link to share to pocket which would make it come down to 2 clicks from 3.
Or perhaps the ability to customize the UI on Firefox mobile. I would much rather have a quick share icon, than the reader or home icon.
@OddHouseGames There's a share option in the three dots already 🤔 And on another note, the three dots menu will be under the hamburger menu in the upcoming v98 release (so there will be one menu only).

Glad to hear it will only be 1 menu! This will make it much easier to convert friends and family. The DDG browser has the share button directly in the main UI which is what makes sharing to pocket quicker.

Removing needs ux label - this is a feature request/product improvement which should be a project that flows through our product road map.
