[Experiment] The background image for the “Make Firefox your default browser” onboarding screen has not been changed
[Affected versions]:
-
Firefox Release 131.0 (45514).
-
Firefox Beta 9000 (45521).
[Affected Platforms]:
- iOS 16.2 - iPhone 12 Pro.
[Preconditions]:
-
The user is enrolled in the "+iOS "Set as Default Browser" Onboarding Optimization+" experiment.
-
The application is at first launch, in order to display the onboarding process.
[Steps to reproduce]:
- Open the Firefox app.
- Observe the “Make Firefox your default browser” screen, the first step from the onboarding process.
[Expected result]:
- A new +image+ should be used, which contains visual instructions in order to set the Firefox browser as the default one.
[Actual result]:
- The old set to default image is used.
[Notes]:
- Because of this issue, the text from the body of the screen: “Follow the steps above…” is misleading since there are no steps described above for the user to follow.

Sorry I missed this! I focused on updating the primary action and left out the new image. Vasant Kumar do you have a link to the final image file? I didn’t see it in the brief. I’ve reached out on the iOS slack channel to determine if new images need to land in-tree or if we can use one from remote settings like with desktop experiments.

Meg Viar I’m home sick today, but I would check with Gabrielle Lussier

Unfortunately it looks like we’ll need to land the new image in tree and add new identifiers in nimbus and the app code to be able to use it. I can start on this as soon as we have a final image, but this likely delays our release past 131.1.

Hello. This issue is not reproducible anymore using:
- Firefox Release 132.0 (45901)
- Firefox Beta 9000 (46008)
Tested using an iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 16.2. As a result I’m setting this ticket to QA Verified status, thank you!
