Unlocking by fingerprint cannot be deactivated on Redmi MIUI 11/Android 9

Steps to reproduce

Configure Lockwise to NOT use the fingerprint sensor to be unlocked

Expected behavior

When unlocking is required, the fingerprint sensor is not presented as an unlocking mechanism

Actual behavior

Both the pattern adrawing nd the fingerprint sensor can be used to unlock. This is not safe as fingerprint is less secure than pattern drawing or code.

This behaviour seems to have started when I upgraded from MIUI 10 to MIUI 11 (still based on Android 9)
