Email Time-outs

Hi. I'm a new user of MotionEyes and have just bought a Raspberry Pi Octocam for my daughter for Christmas. I've managed to configure most of the settings though the email notification is a stumbling block.

When I send a test email it time-outs "Notification email failed: Connection unexpectedly closed: timed out!"

I'm sending to/from a Gmail account so I have allowed less secure apps to access the account but still the same. Any ideas about what is wrong? Also any other online guides or help files?
