Is there a way to simulate with custom scenarios?

I'm trying to run a planner on a custom scenario (for example with a reduced number of tracked objects). What is the best way to do this? I saw on another issue that there's no way to create your own scenario tags https://github.com/motional/nuplan-devkit/issues/199 but are there any work-arounds to simulate custom scenarios?
