gnome console window goes empty

I am on endeavouros and when I use pacseek in gnome-console the gnome-console goes all black / empty after the 2nd or 3rd cntrl-U upgrade.

How to reproduce:

1. open gnome-console (/usr/bin/kgx)
2. open "zsh -df" to ensure that no rc files are being sourced. it starts a plain zsh shell. I can repdoruce the issue with bash as well.
3. open pacseek
4. hit cntrl-U for a system upgrade. When the yay process returns the pacseek UI is not displayed but an empty window with no UI and no prompt.
5. eventually the cntrl-U function has to be executed 2 or 3 times to trigger the issue.

The issue can also be triggered by installing a package and not just a system upgrade. The issue does not happen in gnome-terminal and it does not happen in ptyxis.
