Image stalls on startup with Intel® HD Graphics 620 (Kaby Lake GT2)

Open billmdevs opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

Hi @mortimr I wanted to try this project on Ubuntu with the Intel® HD Graphics 620 (Kaby Lake GT2) graphics card. Had some issues during the build and compilations so I had to tweak it for my particular case. On startup it shows this still image(attached) instead of moving. Do you have an idea why it may do that or how to make it flow smoothly?

Hi @billmdev ! If I remember properly, by default I started the simulation in the paused state. Then you can press space to toggle the pause state, g to toggle the grid and up/down arrows to tweak the FPS. If the simulation isn't smooth then you should try lowering the amount of bodies. I remember being near the gpu vram limit when doing 10.000 bodies

@mortimr Thank you very much!!! It works even though it's waaay slow  . I could update the documentation on how to install the dependencies(each of them were kind of a headache) and tweak the code as a pull request if you don't mind.
