Generated screen recordings are corrupted

QuickTime is unable to play videos recorded of my Nexus 5X screen. It worked before yesterday's updates.

Is this consistent over, say 5 of 5 times? Does rebooting the phone help?

If not, can you try downloading an old version and see if that one works 5 of 5 times? Nothing has been changed in the recording code, and I am suspecting 5X of messing this particular part up from time to time, especially on short recordings

What version are you on? I just had this issue on 1.2, so I updated to 1.4 and that fixed it for me.

I'm experiencing the same issue, so I've done some tests...

  • Device with Android 4.4.2: only works if you start the recording with the device in landscape mode. Otherwise it generates a corrupted video file.
  • Device with Android 5: works well if you have marked "Fastboot update zip files" in Preferences panel.

I saw this once on a Sony Xperia Z2 running API 22, but then I tried again without changing anything and it was fine.
