E492: Not an editor command: ++nested colorscheme gruvbox

Open dickshaydle opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

The gruvbox colors look very nice and i wanted to try it. I use vim in the terminal.

I installed gruvbox via vim-plug and put the line autocmd vimenter * ++nested colorscheme gruvbox after the plug block in the .vimrc.

When i start vim i get the error

Error detected while processing VimEnter Auto commands for "*":
E492: Not an editor command: ++nested colorscheme gruvbox

I can manually change the colorscheme inside vim with :colorscheme gruvbox but this only affects the main window and i cannot change the g:gruvbox_contrast_dark settings. If i try, strangely it switches to light mode, after some back and forth of color scheme switching.

gruvebox was installed in ~/.vim/plugged/gruvbox/ I didn't find anything helpful so far. Any ideas?

ok, it seems to work. colorscheme gruvbox seems enough.

The color difference in the other pages came from the not matching Terminal color scheme.

@dickshaydle I know it's been a while but I came across this myself and I think it's because ++nested was included only in later versions. The "old" command is simply nested, i.e.:

autocmd vimenter * nested colorscheme gruvbox

what's the difference between autocmd vimenter * ++nested colorscheme gruvbox and colorscheme gruvbox
