Sequential hotkeys sharing the same initial characters are overwritten

Someone recommended Keysnail both for a signed keyconfig replacement and also Opera-like mnemonic (sequential sequence) hotkeys and it's been superb.

One thing I've found however is keybindings can't share the same initial characters as another keybinding else it will replace the existing similarly bound hotkey without warning (there is one warning at first but it failed to pop up in subsequent overwrites).

This is unfortunate as it means two sequential bindings can't share a common root format, such as using new for new tab, and news for opening NewsFox. Is there a reason for this limitation? Opera Presto's implementation handled any combination so was hoping there was a way to reproduce the functionality.
