Black screen on all streaming devices on GFE 3.6.0.74

NVidia Geforce Experience version: 3.6.0.74 - GTX 1080 Moonlight Embedded version: 2.3.0

Moonlight Embedded running on: Raspberry Pi

While I have mainly been trying to get this to work with moonlight embedded, I have also tried moonlight chrome and moonlight ios with the same results. What happens for me is that I start up a game and start streaming, I get audio, can navigate in game using the keyboard/mouse hooked up to the raspberry pi/iphone controls but I get no video. Just a black screen. When I first launch the game and I saw my PC's desktop momentarily, that seems to work. Also I have been able to get the Steam app and an installation of The witcher 3 to work with limited success. But every other game I try, DOOM, No Man's Sky, Gauntlet, I always get a black screen. I have tried this on both a raspberry pi 3 and a pi 2. Tried both on wifi and on a wired connection. And as I mentioned before I have tried this on ios and chrome, all with the same results.

A black screen seems to be a common issue but none of the threads I found worked for me. I'm assuming this has something to do with GFE version either not working correctly or an incompatibility with this version of GFE with moonlight.

Have you tried updating your GPU drivers?

According to GFE I have the latest drivers.

A little more troubleshooting, I have found that the games that do not work. If I change the display settings to be windowed they work. Something about being fullscreen makes them just send a black screen. I'm not sure if this is a moonlight issue or a gamestream issue.

This problem also have moonlight-android and vita-moonlight. I was tested with VA-11 HALL-A and Valkyria chronicles.

  • VA-11 HALL-A works on windows mode, but not work video after changed full-screen mode.
  • Valkyria chronicles is a little diff;
    • works: vita-moonlight - 960x544, game: 1280x720, moonlight-android - 720p, game: 800x600
    • not works: with default options
