importing samplebased instrument formats

It would be so much of a help to be able to re-use sf2/xi/sfz instruments in mobmuplat. In which ways could mobmuplat be extended with this (in theory)? I was thinking: in the following possibilities

  • puredata externals
  • commandline utility to convert sf2/xi/sfz which outputs puredata-patch + wav-file (I've coded something similar before: https://github.com/coderofsalvation/instr2raw)
  • support in the mobmuplateditor to import xi/sfz instrument which converts it to a puredata-patch + wav

REASON: For my (electronic music)-oriented livesets I would love to get a smooth workflow between other applications like (renoise) and puredata/mobmuplat. Sf2 and xi are instrument-definitions which are a nice open standard to craft sample-basedinstruments. It would be awesome to be able to export instruments from songs, and import them somehow into mobmuplat.
