Lua could benefit from a up-to-date mongodb driver greatly.

Actually, I am. Lua community has seem some growth with web development tools and a strong database library would do wonders to the ecosystem. How can I help?

Sounds good. I don't know Lua, which is why I'm not maintaining this now that the author has moved to a different company. But I'm happy to review your pull requests to the best of my ability and to merge them.
