I was thinking about this. On the one hand I don't want to use google play. But then apps don't gain popularity.

I just checked and it's not on F-Droid either. I thought one of F-Droid's advantages was to not go through this - even if an app isn't being maintained it shouldn't just disappear.

@user8446, I thought this issue was not about the ability to download the application, but about updating the help documentation. Which, with its current appearance, suggests that the project is (almost) dead. For two years now, at least.

I don't know about the play store removal, but I did get a response on the gitlab ticket. They removed it because they found an old dependency on google buried in it: https://github.com/moneymanagerex/android-money-manager-ex/issues/1425
