The ability to play notes from within the plugin without needing to click onto the FL Studio instance.

FYI, there's nothing specific about FL Studio, this is a VST.

But yes there will be a built-in keyboard soon.

It would be nice to have an isomorphic midi keyboard like this one (choose Janko for 12 tone equal temperament).

Advantages:

  • The same intervals have the same shape in any key
  • Can be used with any tuning

@suhr While that might be useful and technically superior, there's unfortunately a pretty major disadvantage to that which is that it's not what musicians are used to at all. If we actually want this to be a useful tool for musicians, familiarity in basic auxiliary components like this is really important so users don't need to unnecessarily (for most use-cases) re-learn how to use those basic things.

In some cases I would be happy to provide something in a non-standard way when the benefits outweigh the downsides (e.g. the whole workflow of using Axiom is extremely different to other digital synths), but in this case the solution an isomorphic keyboard would solve seems to be quite an edge-case - every DAW I know exposes a regular piano-like keyboard, which works fine and is expected from almost all users.

Maybe someday in the future we'll allow plugins inside Axiom where something like this can be implemented. But don't hold your breath :)

Does that make sense?

Yes. I wonder whether there can be two kinds of keyboard...
