Tensorflow 1.12

I'm not sure if this is an issue or whatever, but I was able to get the demo to work with tensorflow 1.12, in Google Colab. Does having a workable demo guarantee that the rest of the code will work? And, if so is there a specific and imperative reason we need to install tensorflow 1.6?
