Footsteps sounds
- [ ] trigger footstep sound periodically, disregard animation timeline
- [ ] take into account dt1 sound index
- [ ] depends on the unit and equip
COF files for walking and running don't contain any triggers.
In the "Stay Awhile and Listen" book volume 2 which is a retrospective on Diablo 2 creation (very nice read !), they explain that they could not have a relation between the frames and the sounds, so they made the footsteps wav again and again so that they can be just played as loop and look OK with the animations, without being triggered by any frame.
