Reddit support after API changes
Hello, I was just wondering what you plan to do with the reddit support in chance now that (they) are paywalling access to their public api.
There's already scrapechad endpoints compatible with the old reddit api available like this one: https://api.reddiw.com
It's a very nice feature having a "rich" view of reddit threads when someone links to reddit without having to go to their disgusting, slow, ad-ridden website.
Heh I am already using scraped endpoints of my own. Chance doesn't provide any API key. And since it uses a generic user-agent, it would be hard to detect it / apply a rate limit. Will evaluate further if they turn the .json
endpoints off. But I don't expect that.
If I ever wanted to implement login/posting/upvoting support, then it would be a different matter. But since Chance is not a commercial app, it may qualify for free use. Anyway a matter for another day.
