Unable to schedule SMS anymore

Open nanuxbe opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

DESCRIPTION

When trying to schedule a SMS, the SMS is being sent directly.

STEPS

  1. Open the menu (top left menu icon)
  2. Tap on Scheduled
  3. See the screen with the demo (birthday on the 23rd - and yes, it's a fresh reinstall). The 0nly buttons visible on screen are the back arrow (top left) and the plus button (bottom right)
  4. Tap the plus button in the bottom right. You are taken to a screen to Pick a contact.
  5. A the name of the contact. You are taken to a message composition screen (no option there other than the "regular ones")
  6. Type some text and press the Send button (bottom right)
  7. The message is sent at that point

EXPECTED

Step 7 should take you to a screen to pick the date and time

OBSERVATIONS

The feature has worked before on this same device but I did a factory reset and reinstalled the latest version of the app but I think I did have the problem once before (before the factory reset) but I attributed it to an error from my side.

Device: Chick Hi9+ Android: 8.0 (stock) QKSMS: 3.9.4 (from F-Droid)

PS: Thank you for a great app!

My expectation, same as yours, was that you go to Scheduled menu and touch the + button and that you are taken into a schedule SMS workflow (Date/time picker) but it takes you back to a normal SMS screen and then you have to touch the attach button to get a context menu where you can select "Schedule message"

Suggestions to improve

  • UI Update: I would kindly suggest to the developer that the UI needs tweaking to better direct the user, or include information on the Scheduled menu screen of where to trigger the date/time picker.
  • In phone help: Also there doesn't appear to be a link in the phone that leads documentation website which would could lead to a FAQ or simple usage guidelines.
  • Documentation website: The help and feedback link opens an email to the developer, I sent an email, but as yet I haven't received an automated or human reply. Perhaps a choice of self-help or email developer would be good.

PS. Thanks for a great app too!

How to schedule a message

  1. You don't have to be in the schedule menu, just press the plus button from anywhere

01-Scheduled

  1. After selecting a recipient and typing your SMS you then press the attach button to the left of your edit field and tap Schedule message

10-Scheduled

  1. You then get the date / time pickers 15-Schedule

20-Schedule

  1. After tapping send the scheduled message then appears on the Scheduled screen

30-scheduled

Hello,

I also ran into the same flow. The scheduled message was sent directly to 50+ persons. I also think that the "+" in the scheduled view should open directly the date picker.

Thank you for this app that i use every days !
