Is your suggested feature related to a problem? Please describe.

Currently, payouts don't expire. What happens to those payouts that are never claimed? Will Modrinth eventually owe a bunch of money that will never be claimed, but has to be kept around anyway? That's the main worry.

Describe the solution you'd like

Payout expiry, after a good long time. Money earned, say, 4 years ago, expires. Obviously don't make this retroactive - people may be upset about that, which makes it important to make the decision before it happens.

Describe alternatives you've considered

I can't think of much of an alternative. Keeping payouts around indefinitely will eventually cause problems.

Additional context

I don't know the legal complications of this. Maybe it can't expire because it's money and not points - I don't know.
