Does this support running Java mcp locally? or only node based mcp servers?

Yes, inspector should be able to connect to any MCP server, independent of what language its written in. You just need to specify the command and arguments to spawn the server process (for STDIO connections) or provide a valid URL for SSE/Streamable HTTP transport connections.
