Download fails in ownCloud Android app

Open garrison opened this issue 8 years ago • 6 comments

I am using the ownCloud Android app as provided by fdroid, version 1.9.1. I am able to successfully link it with my Sandstorm/Davros instance, but any time I try to download a file, regardless of type, I get a notification that the "Download failed." Curiously, if I attempt to upload a file, it works successfully. Has anybody else noticed this behavior?

I've been about to reproduce this on a second Android device, and also using the "ownCloud beta" client as provided by fdroid. Each time I try to download a file, the Sandstorm log reports success with an HTTP 200 status code for the GET, but the Android client reports "Download failed: Download of could not be completed".

Seemingly related is owncloud/android#945. I too see very large percentages reported before the download ultimately fails.

Can you try the Nextcloud client, or possibly Cirrus? (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.synox.android&hl=en)

Nextcloud 1.2.0 says "Secure connection established" once I enter the URL, but then says "Unknown error occurred!" once I click connect. So I'm having difficulty getting NextCloud to work at all.

I can reproduce these problems with the Owncloud official client via the Play store.

I'm having great success with Cirrus.

I wonder if there are HTTP headers we're dropping within the grain, or something like that.

I tried Cirrus on Android but I can't say I'm having great success. I managed to log in (which is much more than what I obtained with both OwnCloud and NextCloud Android clients) and this is what I got:

  • previously loaded files don't show up in Cirrus
  • loading new files works (I can see them in other clients)
  • operations from other clients are not "understood", i.e. adding or removing a file is not visible in Cirrus.

I hope your mileage will be farther than mine...
