Question: "Rev 0.5" on Aliexpress with no filter IC

I am currently trying to purchase a pre-built version of Binky from aliexpress (EU sourcing opeions are not available for my country). I have stumbled upon two different versions of the sensor with two drastically different prices: one labeled as "v1.0.4", that seems to match the design in this repo, and a second one labeled as "rev 0.5", which is much cheaper, much more prevailing in the market, but for which there is no actual info.

Taking a closer look at the second one, one can notice that the difference is that the filter IC was replaced by something that looks a lot like a transistor (possibly a 3-pin IC, but I doubt it). They seem to be actively trying to hide it, by not showing the side with components on most photos.

Question: how big of a chance that it would work the same?
