Seriously, the only time ever I have to care about reading or accepting a license in Debian is when I have to install proprietary crap like the nvidia binary driver...

For the record, Debian keeps the licence in `/usr/share/doc/$package/copyright` (for ex. lua is MIT and has the file).

Yes it happens quite often here, either on startup or after a build... I usually work around by touching or removing the file in question but it's painful.

Doesn't (or shouldn't?) haikuporter actually run mimeset over all the files before packaging??

Then something is broken. Maybe it doesn't act because the binary was already sniffed before adding the resources?
