Foobar starts with transparent interface after some time

Open NostalgiaRealm opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

After a while of using the Foobar2000 snap just fine closing it, and then trying to start it a while later it will suddenly only start with a transparent interface. I do not know exactly when this occurs, but I have been able to replicate it time after time. And have reinstalled the Snap countless of times, but the same issue keeps reappearing. When this happens, Foobar preferences can still be opened using the right click menu on my dock. When clicked, the Foobar preferences appears just fine, but the Foobar main windows remains transparent. Most times what works to fix this issue is to export the current theme using Preferences > Default User Interface > Export Theme followed by immediately importing the theme again, closing the Foobar snap and reopening it.

Specs: Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS AMD Radeon rx 6700 xt snap 2.66.1 kernel 6.9.3-76060903-generic Foobar 2.24

Try now after the snap update.

Unfortunately the issue persists, it opened up transparent again on the second time of starting Foobar after the recent update. Mind you that the second time of starting was after shut down and restart of my system the next day.

weird I'm not facing that issue at all, can you try again reinstalling snap after purge removing it.

sudo snap remove --purge foobar2000

PS: it will also delete snap data as well

I've ran the comment, then reinstalled Foobar, reimported themes and installed OpenLyrics component. Will have to see if this has fixed my issue. This time I did not change the DPI settings in winecfg, I have a feeling it might be linked to that plus the fact that I switch from my 27" 1440p screen to my 40" 1080p TV and something in Linux/my distro might not behave well with all the scaling going on between the resolutions.

Haven't ran into this issue since switching to Fedora. I don't know what the culprit what but it's been gone for months now thankfully.
