Shotcut fails to launch if Bottom-Up ASLR is turned on in Windows 10
Shotcut version: 20.11.28 (also happened on an earlier version) OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Reproducibility: 100%
Open Start menu -> Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Security (on the left sidebar) -> App & Browser Control -> Exploit Protection Settings -> Program Settings tab -> Add Program to customize -> Choose exact file path -> Select Shotcut executable file. In the offered list choose "Randomize memory allocations (Bottom-Up ASLR)", check "Override system settings" and set it to On. Save the changes and try to start up Shotcut.
Not sure how useful ASLR feature is and afaik system-wide it's off by default. But after accidentally turning it on, I struggled to find the cause of Shotcut not starting up. Maybe Shotcut could at least warn users that this setting should be off?
This is also true for the installer. I've enabled ASLR for the school I manage to attempt to mitigate ransomware attacks.
This was already fixed for shotcut.exe somewhere along the line, probably with the upgrade to Qt 6 or something with msys2's mingw64 runtime. It is working fine for me with the latest release 23.07. I am in the process of replacing the installer for the next version that fixes this for it.
