Can be reviewed now; I don't know why it is not rendering, to me it doesn't look like I touched anything that should give the error that occurs. It renders fine on my local machine.

#497 currently only provides the latex macros needed for math in subsequent chapters (e.g., 2 or 5); there exist some separate PRs / branches that have intros with some chapter specific formalism now but this doesn't make this intro obsolete I guess
