It might be that you had to adjust the "open with"-default pointing to the latest version. 

The clarification which object you follow is welcomed. To make it really useful it should be combined with the possibilty to "loop" through the possible objects on the actual click...

IMO a better highlighting (e.g. the baseline in red) of the object you are cutting would solve the issue. Wouldn't it?

thanks @krticka and @dg0yt for the prompt diagnosis. Indeed the file was corrupt after a file transfer (nextcloud). Now this was no real Mapper issue unless it would be possible...
