This seems to have been resolved in fedora and arch by the spdlog packagers.

I should mention that my failure to build was on the 4.0beta branch.

Workaround by configuring chck with: cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr/ -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release ..
