pc won't go to sleep / suspend / shutdown when Speech Note is still open.
When I set the pc to suspend it would not. This went on for an hour, then I turned of the power.
It does this, ONLY when Speech Note is still a window, not even playing or pauzed. I have to close the SpeechNote window, then pc will go to sleep without any problems.
Speech Note 4.8.0 Linux mint cinnamon 22.1
to reproduce:
- boot to linux mint 22.1
- open speech note.
- set pc to suspend.
Seems like in that code it had something to do with nvidia. So I uninstalled the nvidia driver to see if that would change things. And it did. No code. Unfortunately, no shutdown or suspend either. It just dimmes the screen and shows a clock. Like a screensaver.
I tried on another pc. Same installed versions, but could not reproduce this issue.
Hi. Thanks for reporting.
I want to reproduce this problem on my system, but I can't. It seems that on my system suspend is possible even with the Nvidia add-on installed. But I haven't tested it on Mint.\
Do you have to run something in the application, such as STT/TTS, to get this bug? Or is it enough to just run the app?
I tried on another pc. Same installed versions, but could not reproduce this issue.
The problem may be hardware specific. Unfortunately, I have no idea even how to start analyzing this problem.
I just opened the app, without doing anything. It remembers last text, n the left bottom corner is a spinner says its busy for a sec. And going to sleep form this gives the issue.
Yes I think this must be hardware related. I've hade more crazy issues with this machine. So please don't waste time on this issue. I just hoped it was something I overlooked. But I can live with making sure the window is shut before sleep. Maybe there is a command for SN shutdown and the command for suspend that I could use in custom shortcut?
