Feature request : local server and api
Hi,
I didn't see any places to makes suggestion, but i have one:
Allow speechnote to run a local server with an API to enable possibility to develop modules for thunderbird and firefox, or any desktop app.
ideas i have in mind, because i can't find any extensions doing this right now on firefox/Thunderbird :
-
for thunderbird : with a local speechnote instance, have button to voice to text when writing emails. A button read selected text.
-
For Firefox : with a local speechnote instance, a floating button to read any paragraph, and floating button in each field of a forms when mouse over.
I'm working a lot to improve my productivity, with a privacy focused approach, and i can't find what i need at the moment, so i might be interested into developing such modules for Mozilla apps.
Is that an option for future development ?
best.
I was skeptical at first, but I'm starting to like the idea. Especially the Firefox integration part :)
Speech Note already has a very basic DBus API. Adding an extra layer to expose this API over HTTP can't be very difficult, I think.
Adding this to my list of TO-DOs.
Awesome ! Let me know when this feature is ready to test.
I was thinking the same thing. It would be certainly helpful withe emails, documents but imagine interacting with Claude or ChatGPT using small mic icon in their prompt box. That would be huge productivity boost. All that without sending your voice over to some remote server.
