[Thunderbird] Server status messages are unchanged

Open rcmero opened this issue 8 years ago • 8 comments

These are messages of the type "Server did not respond". You can test this with Gmail, more often than not third-party clients can not connect to a Gmail account for some reason.

Tested with Thunderbird 45 on Windows 8.1.

Can you include a screenshot? Not sure which message you're talking about. I don't use Gmail...

Windows 10 works for me...

Same for the "Connection refused" message. So maybe a problem with your pc, your configuration or Windows 8.1.

I just tested it (also on Windows 10) and it's not working. I am running Thunderbird Portable so that is probably the issue.

Oh yes, and I double checked just to make sure but GNotifier is enabled correctly. captura de ecra 2

I also use Thunderbird Portable, so that's not the issue. :)

But maybe just the "Server did not respond" message as you stated above (and which I can't reproduce) is the problem. I can't read nor translate your first screenshot to make sure it's the same or a different error.

But I'm wondering anyway how your notification looks... I can't remember that former native Thunderbird messages looked like that. Are you sure there is no other program or skin or something interfering?

That first shot was taken from a Windows 7 machine, but I checked it on Windows 10 and it looks quite similar. I also have no other skins enabled on Thunderbird (what you see on the second shot is just a Persona and a bit of Stylish).

(And BTW, the message I posted states "Connection to server Gmail timed out.", exactly the same as in yours.)

Hmm, you should really try with a basic Thunderbird without any modifications. Just use a different portable one maybe.
