Support for Mr. Message AIM client on OS/2, eComStation, ArcaOS

Open CoherentLogic opened this issue 9 months ago • 1 comments

Description of the Feature

The Mr. Message client--the only native OS/2 client I've found, does not presently work with RAS.

It would be very cool for it to be supported.

It does get further than our previous attempt. It signs on and pulls the buddy list, but almost immediately disconnects and tries to reconnect.

The app is available at the Hobbes Archive (the zip file includes the sources and a WarpIn installer package).

Use Case

Would open up RAS to another significant segment of the retrocomputing enthusiast community.

Potential Challenges

OS/2 can be difficult to set up, and I'm not great with reverse engineering or the OSCAR protocol.

Additional Information

I can provide testing assistance, and help with things like OS/2 ready-to-go in VirtualBox.

You might wanna try getting some packet dumps from OS/2. It looks like there was at least some kind of port of it to OS/2/ArcaOS/e-CS in 2017
