Whole screen flickers on initial usage (from React)

I'm using this component in our React app, displaying it through a Popover. The first time I display it, the entire screen flickers. After that, it works perfectly, even if the component is removed and a new component displayed... Not sure how to begin to debug this? Otherwise the component works great.
